The Top 5 Luxury Brands as of 2010

Vertu is #1 because it has one of the most wildly overprice collection of CELL PHONES, yes cell phones, in the world. Though these are handmade with precious woods, metals, gems, etc… It doesn’t excuse the fact that these are cell phones and cell phones are meant to be used not collected  and stowed away for future generations to have unlike a watch. Which brings us to our next brand.

Rolex is one of the few real luxury watch brands still around. They are known so well that bootleg versions of their watches are constantly popping up on the internet and at pawn shops. Their collection of watches are worn by people who appreciate fine and precise craftsmanship but are adventurous and are willing to take risks. Now, granted some people collect Rolex watches and store them away as part of their collections but, I find most wearers will actually use their Rolex. As most Rolex are waterproof, the watches are ready to take a beating.

Leica is our third brand because it also carries quite a history from World War II  as Ernst Leitz (the owner of Ernst Leitz GmbH and the maker of the Leica camera) sent Jews out of Germany on “business”. Instead he set them free and gave each of them a Leica camera I assume to sell and restart their lives in the new country they were sent to. Leica still creates beatuiful , high-quality cameras to date that produce images like no other.

Bayerische Motoren Werke AG or BMW for short was founded in 1916 and originally produced airplane engines until after World War I when the Versailles Armistice Treaty was created. BMW moved on to motorcycles after the treaty was lifted and continued to the now extremely famous cars they make today. BMW is, was, and always be a luxury brand because not only do they produce the  BMW but, they are the parent company to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. From the fine leather seats to the coolers, TVs, and premium polished wooden dashboards, BMW will always be a luxury name.

Gucci is another frequently counterfeited name that is wildly expensive but, worth it in it’s own special way. Founded in 1921, Gucci has created fine leather products such as handbags. Gucci might as well have coined the term fine Italian leather as most people know of the fabulous leather goods Gucci has created over the years.
